I am always seeking ways to unwind and relax. I never felt stress before the past 10 years or so. I used to balk at people who told me they were stressed out, and then, it happened to me.
Stress is not a good thing; it is debilitating and it takes longer to get rid of it than it did to acquire it. The health issues from stress are staggering. And, I am convinced that it was not an intended part of life, nor should we have to suffer from it...
It is said that the simple act of staring at cool blue water has a hypnotic effect which generates alpha brain waves, causing the mind to be in a more relaxed, but, more highly focused state. I could have told you that. Water is extremely useful in stress relief, and, I know for a fact, having lived on the water for much of my life...
I no longer live on the water and I can feel the difference daily. Gone is the sound of the ocean, the breeze carrying the scents of the ocean, the gorgeous scenery surrounding the ocean, and, the carefree essence associated with the calm, peaceful flowing of the oceans ebbs and tides...
It is different world indeed. But, that doesn't mean that I cannot relieve my stress, it just means I have to find alternate ways to do so...
One way is to keep pictures such as the one above nearby. Another is to have those small water fountains nearby, you know the ones whose water trickles up and down, either on stones or other. You could have the sounds of the ocean playing as you unwind from the day. There are aromatic scents which recall the beach, ocean, or other watered scenes...
You should always have plenty of stress relievers on hand. Be they candles, incense, bath oils, massage oils, pictures, photos, your vacation videos, sand, rocks, and, anything which reminds you of the best times...
When we forget the negativity of the day, our positive mind refreshes itself, and, then we are stronger to face another day in the life...
